Experiential Learning:The Experiential Learning component for students working in a food pantry space offers invaluable hands-on experience that merges academic knowledge with practical service. This involves various responsibilities such as stocking and organizing inventory, where students learn about logistics, supply chain basics, and inventory management. Additionally, engaging in food distribution allows them to practice customer
service, empathy, and communication skills while interacting with clients. Students also gain experience in data tracking by using digital systems to log items, monitor usage, and report on needs, while learning essential health regulations and proper food handling procedures in the context of sanitation and food safety.

The learning objectives of this experience emphasize social impact awareness, helping students understand food insecurity, poverty, and community-based solutions. They develop cultural competence through respectful interactions with people from diverse backgrounds, fostering a greater understanding of societal issues. Furthermore, the experience cultivates a sense of civic responsibility as students witness how non-
profits address basic human needs and promote equity. By navigating real-time challenges like supply shortages or increased demand, students also enhance their problem-solving abilities, preparing them for future endeavors in service and advocacy.
