Budget & Planning/Tuition Advisory Committee Charge

“Each public university listed in ORS 352.002 shall have an advisory body to advise the president of the university on the president’s recommendations to the governing board regarding resident tuition and mandatory enrollment fees for the upcoming academic year.” (H.B. 4141, 2018 Short Session, Oregon, 2018)

Membership

All members of the Budget & Planning/Tuition Advisory Committee participate in the annual tuition setting process.

EOU Tuition Setting Timeline:

  • November – Tuition discussion kickoff
  • January – B&P/TAC discusses campus priorities and tuition scenarios
  • January – Finance & Administration Committee discusses campus priorities and tuition scenarios
  • January–February – Updates to EOU Cabinet, B&P/TAC Committee, and ASEOU
  • February–April – Ongoing tuition scenario discussions with ASEOU, B&P/TAC, F&A Committee, and student forums
  • March 10, 2026 – B&P/TAC submits tuition recommendation to the EOU President
  • April 8, 2026 – Board of Trustees F&A Committee receives first read of tuition proposal
  • May 6, 2026 – Board of Trustees F&A Committee approves final tuition proposal and recommends it to the full Board
  • May 20–21, 2026 – Full Board reviews and approves tuition

  • Build and maintain financial stability to allow for consistent improvement in mission fulfillment.
  • Serve regional access needs by ensuring affordability to those most in need.

Meeting Schedule

Tuition discussions will take place at the regularly scheduled Budget and Planning/TAC meetings. Additional meetings with ASEOU, student and campus community forums will take place during winter term.

The Budget and Planning/Tuition Advisory Committee meets the first Thursday of each month from 3:15pm-5pm.   Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed or if there is a scheduling conflict.
