Every Gift Makes a Difference

Gifts to the EOU Foundation support the things you care about at EOU: excellent education, small classes, high-quality facilities and most importantly, serving our students. Our students’ success is truly impacted by your generosity. Gifts can be made to the general fund.  Gifts can also be directed to support specific departments, activities, or scholarships, based on what you’re hoping to achieve.

Ways to Give

Cash, Check, Credit Card

Cash gifts, including checks and credit cards, provide for the immediate needs of our students. You can mail a check to the EOU Foundation, make a gift with your credit or debit card (click here to make an online gift now) or pledge gift installments. All major credit cards are accepted.

All gifts to the EOU Foundation are subject to existing Foundation policies including administrative fees at the time of the gift.

ACH Transfers & EOU Payroll Deduction

It’s easy to give through automatic payments. If you choose this option, your set monthly gift amount is automatically withdrawn from your bank account. If you work at EOU, you can set up a payroll deduction so that your gift is automatically deducted from your paycheck.

All gifts to the EOU Foundation are subject to existing Foundation policies including administrative fees at the time of the gift.

Gifts of Stock

Giving stock is a convenient way to support EOU and often creates tax advantages for you. Based on your wishes, the Foundation can either liquidate or keep the stock to allow it to appreciate. Follow this link for instructions to transfer stock.

In-Kind

Examples of in-kind gifts include food for events, advertising or professional services, property, or equipment including computers, library books, theatre program costumes, and more. Depending on your wishes and the circumstances, the gift may be used by the University or sold by the Foundation for revenue.

Legacy Giving

Legacy, or planned, gifts such as bequests, trusts, or life insurance policies allow donors to establish a legacy and provide future support for EOU.

Types of Planned Gifts

Bequests

  • Leaving all or a portion of your estate, through your will or trust, is the simplest way to make a planned gift to the EOU Foundation. Our team collaborates with you to document your wishes to ensure your legacy is preserved at EOU. If you have already listed EOU in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure we conduct your legacy goals accordingly.

Life Estates

  • A life estate agreement involves transferring an interest in real property (i.e., personal residence, vacation home, farm, etc.) by deed to the EOU Foundation during your lifetime, generating immediate income tax deduction. You continue using the property, with responsibility for upkeep, maintenance, property taxes, insurance, etc., unless other specific terms are established. Upon passing, the Foundation assumes full ownership of the property. Life estate agreements are unique, so our team collaborates with you directly to establish these agreements.

Life Insurance

  • Gifts of life insurance policies often allow much larger gifts than with cash gifts. There are three primary ways to give a life insurance policy gift:
    • Transfer ownership of an existing policy to the Foundation.
    • Purchase of a new policy with the Foundation as an applicant, owner, and irrevocable beneficiary. Cash is given to the Foundation, which is used for the premium payments to the insurance company. After the initial payment, regular tax-deductible gifts are made to cover the premium payments.
    • Designate the Foundation as a beneficiary of a policy, which allows you to retain ownership of the policy.

Trusts

  • Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) allow you to give a substantial gift, earn income, and gain significant tax benefits. A CRT is established with a gift(s), which is then placed in trust and invested by the EOU Foundation. You or a designated beneficiary receives payments, either fixed or based on investment earnings, for life or a set number of years. Then, the remaining assets are used to support EOU. CRTs are often used to establish new endowments in the donor’s name. Cash, stocks, or appreciated real estate are excellent funding sources.

All gifts to the EOU Foundation are subject to existing Foundation policies including administrative fees at the time of the gift.
