Satisfactory Academic Progress
Students who attend Eastern Oregon University with financial aid are required
to make progress toward a degree in order to continue receiving financial aid.
This progrss is measured in two ways--by grade point average and by number of
credits completed.
Grade Point Average: This shows the quality of academic progress. The Financial
Aid Office reviews student grades after each term. Students are required to
complete all classes with an average term GPA of 2.0 or better regardless of
how many credits they take. In addition, students must meet the academic standards
set forth by Eastern. If a student is suspended because of failure to meet those
standards, their aid will be revoked as well. The first appeal to the Academic
Standards Committee will also serve as an appeal for financial aid. If a student
should be suspended again, a financial aid appeal must be made in addition to
the academic standards appeal.
Number of Credits Completed: By the end of the term, students must complete
the minimum number of credits that were funded with financial aid for that term.
The table below indicates the minimums for undergraduate and graduate students.
Students who plan on attending part-time or who find they must drop from full-time
to part-time must make arrangements with the financial aid office for each part-time
term.

In addition, students must complete their degree and graduate in a timely manner.
This means that the number of attempted hours must not exceed 150% of the required
hours for a degree. If students are working toward the 186 credit hour requirement
for graduation, they have a maximum of 279 hours to finish their degree. Students
with a 180 hour requirement have a maximum of 270 credit hours to finish. Students
in excess of this who have not graduated will have their aid revoked. This holds
true regardless of how many of those credits were paid for by financial aid.
- For more information see the Academic
Standards policy webpage.
Appeal Process: If a student's aid is revoked, they can appeal. This
appeal may be reviewed within the Financial Aid Office, or it may have to be
reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee. We strongly urge
students to get appeals in before the end of the first week of each term in
order to be reviewed for that term. Appeal forms are available through
the Financial Aid Office or from our forms webpage.
Financial Aid Reinstatement: Students with extenuating circumstances
may appeal their aid revoke and be approved to receive further aid. The Financial
Aid Office or the Financial Aid Committee may require that the student take
fewer credits for future terms or may require the student to finish 12 credits
with a 2.00 GPA or better without aid before having their aid reinstated. These
requirements may be in addition to any requirements set by the Academic Standards
Committee.
