Outside Scholarships and Additional Resources

Outside Scholarships

Many students come to college with scholarships awarded from organizations that are not affiliated with their colleges. Financial aid methodology requires that we count outside scholarships as part of a student’s financial aid package to help meet need.  Students should notify the financial aid office about expected scholarships.  We will add the expected scholarship to the student’s financial aid offer.

When scholarship checks come to the financial aid office, we verify the amount to make sure we have it correct on the student’s award offer.  Our staff then forwards scholarship checks to the Student Accounts Office.  If the scholarship check is made payable to EOU for a student, the Student Accounts Office can process the check and apply the check to the student’s account.  If the check is made payable to the student, the student will need to make arrangements with the Student Accounts Office.

Other Resources

Students are responsible for letting the financial aid office know if they have resources such as third party payments, employer paid tuition plans, or other resources that may count as part of their financial aid package to meet need.

OUS Tuition Benefit

The OUS Tuition Benefit program reduces the cost of tuition for the eligible employee or family member.  When a student has financial aid and has the OUS Tuition Benefit, we will reduce the student’s cost of attendance by reducing the tuition component of cost.  This may have the effect of reducing need-based financial aid.
