Get Your Vaccines Against COVID-19, Mountaineers!
This time last year, the world was facing the beginning months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses, families, and schools were undergoing changes that were challenging and unprecedented. This year, vaccines for the virus are being distributed worldwide and many are comforted by this new layer of protection. People in Oregon who are ages 16 and above are now eligible to receive vaccines to help protect themselves and their loved ones from contracting COVID-19.
As an EOU student, there are a few ways that you can receive your vaccination for free. On Tuesday, May 4th, there was an opportunity to receive either your first or second dose of the Moderna vaccine at the La Grande campus in the Quinn Coliseum. These vaccines were offered through CHD Public Health with no insurance or ID required. Keep an eye out for announcements about events like this that could happen again in the future.
If you were unable to attend this on-campus event, don’t worry. The CHD offers free vaccinations weekly at the Riveria Activity Center (2609 N 2nd St, La Grande, OR), which is only a five-minute drive from campus! Check here to see availability and to schedule your appointment accordingly.
You can also check out this page on the EOU website with vaccine information and resources, including a fun video featuring our very own Monty the Mountaineer, demonstrating how simple it is to get your vaccinations!
If you are a distance learning student or are otherwise located outside of Union County, be sure to do your research about vaccination availability and accessibility in your area. Here is a site that allows you to see all of the vaccination locations near you. Additionally, you can find out more information about the vaccine and what to expect, here.
Please consider getting your vaccines and continue to stay safe!
