{"id":1303,"date":"2016-09-26T19:04:12","date_gmt":"2016-09-26T19:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/ua\/?page_id=1303"},"modified":"2023-09-05T15:05:29","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T15:05:29","slug":"texting","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/ua\/texting\/","title":{"rendered":"SMS Texting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SMS Texting Procedures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">SMS text messaging is an effective&nbsp;channel of communication that Eastern Oregon University provides to incoming and current students. &nbsp;Communication with&nbsp;students are directly relating to student safety or student academic success that is considered critical and\/or time sensitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One-on-one and scheduled SMS texting relays any of the following messages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Emergency notifications (opt-in not required)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Campus closures (opt-in not required)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student information, inclusive of admissions, academics, student accounts&nbsp;and financial aid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important information and time sensitive information, inclusive of deadlines and notices critical to student academic progress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One-on-one communication from EOU staff regarding appointments and meetings that support the success and retention of the student eg. advisor uses texting to set-up meetings or check-up on the progress of the student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opting Out<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Receivers of texting may use any of the following to opt-out from SMS Texting from EOU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reply to text message by typing the words STOP (best option)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Text 541.790.0910 with the message STOP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Call 800.452.8639 and request the IT help desk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email us at helpdesk@eou.edu<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After opt-out is sent, sender will receive a text message confirming they have opt-out from further SMS Texting from EOU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0B6O2Mv8htHlEZmxFR1IyZ29SZDQ\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EOU&#8217;s SMS Texting Policy<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SMS Texting Procedures SMS text messaging is an effective&nbsp;channel of communication that Eastern Oregon University provides to incoming and current students. &nbsp;Communication with&nbsp;students are directly relating to student safety or student academic success that is considered critical and\/or time sensitive.
