File a Report

Need to share and get the story to the right people? File anonymously and our professionals can address the situation.

If you have or know someone who has experienced an incident but you are not sure about it – connect with someone that can help.

If you or anyone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or Eastern Oregon University (EOU) Campus Security at 541.962.3911

If you have been subjected to a physical, emotional, sexual or gender-based harassment or misconduct, EOU strongly encourages you to report your experience to the University and/or local law enforcement. EOU’s Title IX Coordinator is trained to work with individuals who report physical, emotional, sexual or gender-based misconduct, and provide information about resources, support service and procedural options.

We believe it is the right of the victim/survivor of interpersonal violence to decide if they wish to report an incident, and how much information they wish to share about the incident.

You can make a report at any time. However, you are encouraged to make a report as soon as possible after an incident. All reports are treated with the highest level of seriousness and sensitivity. Retaliation against any person for making a report or participating in an investigation is strictly prohibited. If you decide not to make a report, or if you are unsure about reporting, you are still entitled to confidential resources provided by the University. You can also request changes to your academic, housing, transportation and working situations.

Choose one or more of the below to report

  • Submit a Title IX Report Form.
  • File a report in person with the Title IX Coordinator, Inlow Hall 113a, 541-962-3476 or titleix@eou.edu.
  • Make an anonymous report through a confidential employee. Not sure who are confidential employees? Visit our page and connect with our Privileged Campus Advocate.

Whenever one person stands up and says, “Wait a minute, this is wrong,” it helps other people do the same.

How does confidentiality work?

You may report an incident to an University employee. With the exception of Privileged support providers, all EOU employees are Responsible Employees and are obligated to pass along information they learn about incidents of dating, domestic sexual violence, or stalking to the University’s Title IX Coordinator.

The Title IX Coordinator or any Deputy Coordinator or Investigator is not a confidential source of support. While they will address your complaint with sensitivity and will not share any information related to your experience except on a need-to-know basis, absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. A list of confidential support providers is available in the FAQ for Students page.

EOU is committed to resolving all Title IX issues. However extra support may be needed. Click for more information on Gender-Based & Sexual Misconduct Reporting and Support Options.

You get to choose – it is your story
Under federal law and University policy, EOU is required to investigate all reports of interpersonal violence: sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking that are brought to our attention. The extent of the investigation depends on the amount of information that is shared about the incident. You can also request changes to your academic, housing, transportation and working situations, at this time.

We believe it is the right of the victim/survivor of interpersonal violence to decide if they wish to report an incident, and how much information they wish to share about the incident.

Most faculty, staff and some students are required by University policy to report incidents of interpersonal violence of which they become aware. This first group is considered non-confidential.

Some staff are designated as Confidential Resources meaning they are not required under University policy or the law to divulge information about interpersonal violence. Students who are uncertain about reporting their assault may find comfort in first meeting with a Confidential Resource to explore options available to them, and to receive information about campus and community supports.

At EOU, Confidential Resources include our Privileged Campus Advocate, professional counselors in the Counseling Center and medical providers in the Student Health Center. If you are uncertain whether an individual is a Confidential Resource, please ask them before sharing your story. You can always ask general questions without divulging your personal story.

The University’s Title IX Coordinator will respond to all reports of potential physical, emotional, sexual or gender-based harassment or misconduct in a manner that is timely, supportive, and fair. It is important to note that these procedures provide individuals who have experienced an incident of sexual or gender-based harassment or misconduct with the ability to provide input and maintain a large degree of control over how their issue is handled at every point in the process.

You have the right to check in with the Title IX Coordinator during the process and see if there are updates they can share.

Statement on retaliation

EOU prohibits retaliation against individuals who engage in reporting a complaint of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating or domestic violence, and/or stalking. Retaliatory behavior is regarded as additional misconduct and may lead to increased sanctions.
