Assistant Editor

The assistant editor must be a full-time student of Eastern Oregon University. The applicant must be an upper division student in good standing with the university and have completed at least five credit hours of creative writing (fiction, poetry, and non-fiction).

The responsibilities of the assistant editor include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with distributing the magazine during Fall Quarter
  • Help to advertise the magazine off-campus
  • Reading manuscripts
  • Filling out rejection and acceptance letters
  • Doing paperwork
  • Maintain regular office hours
  • Maintain the Oregon East webpage
  • Help with design and layout of the magazine
  • Designing and maintaining the editorial handbook
  • Maintain a working relationship with the advisor of the magazine
  • Proofreading
  • Maintain a working relationship with the editor, consult with and share in some duties with the editor
