Help EOU’s voice be heard in Salem February 11!

Join EOU for University Day at the Capitol

University Day at the Oregon Capitol is coming up Thursday, February 11. This is EOU’s primary effort to bring students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees and other supporters of Oregon’s public universities to Salem for a day of legislative engagement and advocacy.

Help EOU’s voice be heard and lobby for higher education funding!

In collaboration with SOU, WOU and OIT, PSU, U of O and OSU, this critical effort will advocate for support of funding for higher education in Oregon, and in particular, for EOU. Attendees will have the opportunity to lobby legislators, join House/Senate floor sessions, meet with key leaders and present academic projects to increase visibility in Salem.

University Day activities

  • Starting at 7:30 a.m. February 11, student greeters will be stationed outside on the Capitol steps, while others will accompany state representatives onto the floors of the House and Senate and hold meetings with leadership.
  • Lunch with legislators will focus on a discussion of funding priorities and Governor Kate Brown is invited to attend.
  • Lobbying groups will disperse after lunch to meet with individual legislators and make the case for Oregon’s public universities.
  • Throughout the day, each campus will have displays set up in the Capitol foyer to promote student research and engagement.

University Advancement is coordinating travel for EOU.
