April 18, 2012 LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU) – The 25th Annual Island Magic Lu’au & Show takes place Saturday, April 21 at Eastern Oregon University.
The Lu’au begins at 5 p.m. in the Hoke Union Building, Main Lounge, and features a sampling of traditional island dishes. Chamorro beefsteak, kahlua pig, sweet potatoes, chicken kelaquen, steamed white rice, fried rice, potato salad, Pani Popo (a Samoan dessert) and Haupia (coconut dessert), are all on the menu.
Doors open at 6:30 for the performance portion of the evening in McKenzie Theatre in Loso Hall. On the program will be a lineup of dances from Hawaii, Philippines Palau, Micronesia, New Zealand and Samoa.
Two EOU student clubs, Island Magic and the Navigators, are sponsoring the event.
Tickets are $8 for EOU students, $10 for general admission and are available to purchase at the EOU Bookstore and Sunflower Books. For more information call 541-962-3704 or 541-962-3741.
