Feb. 22, 2018 LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University students can introduce their parents and families to on-campus life during Family Weekend on April 20 and 21.
“We consider this tradition to be an essential experience for students and families to reconnect and share the campus experience,” said Le Bailey, director of Student Involvement. “It’s the perfect time to enjoy a typical EOU weekend.”
During the two-day event, students and their families will have an opportunity to explore EOU and La Grande through a variety of offerings, including athletic events and performances.
Comedian JR De Guzman opens the weekend with a performance Friday evening, sponsored by Eastern Student Entertainment. Guzman began performing stand-up comedy while working as a music teacher. He has shared the stage with Tim Allen, Margaret Cho, Daniel Tosh, Jerrod Carmichael and Iliza Shlesinger. He recently appeared on Hulu’s “Coming to the Stage,” Comedy Central’s “Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City,” and MTV’s “Acting Out.” The event is free and will be held at 7 p.m. in Hoke Student Union 339.
The annual Island Magic Lu’au and Show on Saturday evening includes traditional dishes and live entertainment from the Polynesian and Micronesian islands. Tickets are available at the EOU Bookstore and Looking Glass Bookstore. Admission is $10 for students, seniors and children and $12 for public.
