March 6, 2019 LA GRANDE, Ore. – Co-owners of one of the region’s largest IT outsourcing firms Richard and Kathleen Chaves will speak at a Pub Talk March 7 in La Grande.

The talk is the third Pub Talk hosted by Eastern Oregon University’s Entrepreneurship Club, and will be held at the Eastern Oregon Fire House Museum (1219 Washington Avenue) right next to Side A Brewing. Pub Talks are an extension of the entrepreneurial speaker series that EOU offers in classes on campus or online.

Chaves Consulting Inc., which was named Baker County’s Business of the Year in 2012, and serves customers in Oregon, Iowa, Missouri and Wyoming. The company operates a regional data center in Baker City. Richard also serves on the Board of Trustees for EOU.

“One of the most important aspects of encouraging entrepreneurship and fostering community is to highlight the stories and lessons from local entrepreneurial heroes,” club advisor and business professor Wilson Zehr said. “Richard and Kathleen have certainly had an amazing journey and it is well worth sharing with others.”

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the talk begins at 6, with informal networking to follow. Students, business owners and all community members are welcome to attend the free event. An online livestream of the event will be available at livestream.com/eou/EntrepreneurClub for those who cannot attend in person.
