LA GRANDE, Ore. January 10, 2017 – Eastern Oregon University’s Multicultural Center and TRiO Student Support Services are organizing a coat drive now through January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Junior Day.
Donations of new or gently used coats may be dropped off at the Multicultural Center in the Hoke Union Building, Room 212 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, or from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Coats will be sorted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16 in Hoke Room 339 and volunteers are welcome. Any remaining coats will be donated to the La Grande middle and high schools.
Later that afternoon from 3-6 p.m., a public showing and discussion of the documentary “13TH” will be held at the Eastern Oregon Film Festival Headquarters at 112 Depot Street. Watch the trailer.
Additional support for MLK Day activities comes from Racial Justice Eastern Oregon, the Student Council for Multicultural Affairs and Oregon Rural Action.
