La Grande, Ore. − Eastern Oregon University kicks off the 2017 football season with its first home game this Saturday, Sept. 9. But before the Mountaineers face off against University of Montana-Western, fans will gather in the newly dubbed Mary Horn-Edward Jones Tailgate Zone to celebrate their home team.
Horn’s sponsorship of the EOU Alumni Association event continues through the next five years. Located in the Sixth Street and H Avenue parking lot by the tennis courts, the tailgating area opens three hours prior to the kick-off of every home football game this season.
“We’re grateful for the chance to partner with Mary Horn-Edward Jones at the Tailgate Zone this season,” Alumni Coordinator Jessie Bowman said. “Alumni like Mary really set an example for giving back and staying connected with the university community.”
Festivities surrounding this weekend’s match-up will start at 10 a.m. Saturday and close at 1 p.m., in time for kick-off at Community Stadium. The season includes five home games in total, including Oct. 7 during Homecoming, Oct. 14, Oct. 28 and Nov. 11. See the EOU athletics website for a detailed schedule.
“I am excited and honored to support the EOU Tailgate Zone,” said Horn, who graduated in 2013 with an MBA from EOU. “In the spirit of togetherness, let’s gather and root for our Mountaineers in what is sure to be another fantastic season.”
Reserved spaces include two regular parking spots, providing ample room for vehicles, barbecues and socializing. Visit eou.edu/alumni/tailgate or call 541-962-3740 to learn more and to reserve a space.
