LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU) – An opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide is coming up at Eastern Oregon University, November 16-20.

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education and is part of the effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.

IEW Schedule

Monday, November 16

“Paint Your World” Contest
Grab a brush and paint the world as you see it from your perspective. The creations will be painted on the windows in Hoke. Vote for your favorite before Friday at 4 p.m. in the Multicultural Center!

3 p.m., Hoke Community Room
IEW Kick-Off Fashion Show, Sponsored by ISA
A trip around the world without the jetlag! Students will display cultural attire in a fashion show with a couple of special performances.

4 p.m., Zabel 101
AVE FENIX MEDIA presents “Two Americans”

Tuesday, November 17

3 p.m., Hoke Main Lounge
Diverse Experiences from the International Perspective, facilitated by Professor Tawnya Lubbes.
A panel of international students will answer questions based on their cultural backgrounds and English as a second language experiences.

Café International
Join the follow-up discussion of the film “Two Americans.”

Ping Pong Tournament
Join the multi-bracket Ping-Pong tournament!

Study Abroad Fair
Interested in studying abroad? Stop by, pick up materials and learn about study abroad and the many opportunities available to EOU students.

Global Village
Come view the country displays and sample tasty treats! Crafts will be available for everyone to make and take home.

Conversations in Spanish is an informal weekly gathering where participants practice the Spanish language while talking, playing games and telling stories!
