Feb. 12, 2018 La Grande, Ore. — Eastern Oregon University students representing more than a dozen countries share dances, songs and performances at the annual International Dinner and Show on Feb. 23 in McKenzie Theatre.
This year’s show marks 31 years of hosting the event at EOU. Members of EOU’s International Student Association prepare for weeks and the final result features clothing, music and recipes from a variety of cultures. The on-campus cultural club also hosts events during International Education Week and Homecoming.
“We are honored to share our different cultures and experiences to bring unique diversity here to Eastern Oregon University and La Grande,” said Jorge Chavez Vazquez, the club’s president from Mexico.
This year’s “Global Celebrations” theme will take the audience around the world, recognizing a variety of holidays and special events celebrated in different countries. Attendees enjoy authentic dishes at 5:30 p.m. in Hoke Union Building, then move to Loso Hall for an evening of international entertainment starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for students and $12 for general admission and are available for purchase at the Looking Glass Bookstore, EOU Bookstore and the Multicultural Center.
