LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University welcomes presidential candidate Kelly A Ryan, Ph.D. on Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25. Ryan will spend a day and a half in La Grande meeting with EOU students, faculty, and staff, interacting with business and community leaders, and touring the campus.
Ryan currently serves as the Interim Chancellor of Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. In this role she has developed relationships and partnerships to increase community engagement with the institution, and orchestrated efforts to fund scholarships, student research and creativity initiatives, and support resources for the IUS School of Nursing.
During her career, Ryan has overseen development of academic and noncredit programs and courses, led campus-wide strategic planning processes, overseen strategic enrollment management, and instituted new inclusive hiring and teaching practices. She is the recipient of several awards and distinctions, including the Indiana Zeta Honored Professor Award from Indiana University Southeast, and the Departmental Teaching Award from the University of Maryland.
Ryan has served in several roles at Indiana University Southeast including Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Coordinator for the Department of History, and Professor of History.
Members of the public are invited to meet Ryan at an Open Forum on April 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Huber Auditorium located in the Badgley Science Center on the EOU campus. The forum will be followed by a community reception in the Science Center foyer from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
