LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU) – Celebrated jazz flugelhornist and composer Dmitri Matheny, of Phoenix, Ariz., is giving two workshops at Eastern Oregon University Wednesday, April 29.
Matheny will share career advancement strategies for today’s professional musician during “Music in the Digital Age” at 12 p.m. in Loso Hall, Room 123.
Later in the afternoon, discover the late trumpet legend Art Farmer’s lyrical approach to jazz improvisation during “Melodic Mastery” at 3 p.m. in Loso Hall, Room 126.
Both workshops are free and open to the public.
Matheny, who was first introduced to jazz audiences in the 1990s as Farmer’s protégé, now tours internationally and has released 10 critically acclaimed albums.
