LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU) – The GO-STEM Hub at Eastern Oregon University is hosting unique educational events called “Dinner with a STEM Professional” in Baker City April 30 and Pendleton May 14.
The events are invitation only, semi-formal and involve area middle and high school students and their teachers meeting with a variety of STEM related professionals over a three-course meal. The STEM professionals will share their interactions around science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the use of STEM in their careers in addition to providing a hands-on table activity for students and teachers to explore.
More than 100 teachers, students and professionals are expected to attend the two dinners. Administrators nominated teachers to attend and in turn the teachers selected the students.
“These motivational and inspiring events will stimulate students and teachers to learn about different STEM related jobs and opportunities found in eastern Oregon,” said Katie Butterfield, Greater Oregon STEM facilitator.
