LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU) – Michael Sell, associate professor of media arts/art, will share his newest photographic work documenting the fictional town of Pressley, Mont., for the next colloquium Thursday, Feb. 12.
Sell’s presentation, “The Homunculus and Pressley, Montana,” begins at 4 p.m. in Ackerman Hall, Room 210 at EOU. A reception will follow.
To tune in to the colloquium online, go to https://new.livestream.com/eou/events/3747597.
Sell’s work was recently exhibited in Tallinn, Estonia, as part of “The Homunculus Collection.” His photographs, overlaid with icons from Google Street View, present an imaginary “Anytown, USA” and play with viewers’ notions of reality and fiction. He will discuss his work, its conceptual roots and the exhibition overseas.
Sell’s work was created and presented with assistance from the EOU Foundation, the Oregon Arts Commission and the Estonia Ministry of Culture.
