LA GRANDE, Ore. April 26, 2017 – National Arbor Day is April 28 and Eastern Oregon University is celebrating the importance of trees on campus by planting a Douglas fir at 1 p.m. Friday.

The university is also celebrating its designation as a 2016 Tree Campus USA and an award from the Arbor Day Foundation will be presented at this time. Special guests attending the event include President Tom Insko, Vice President for Finance and Administration Lara Moore, Tree Advisory Committee members and U.S. Forest Service representatives.

The planting will take place on the quad between Pierce Library and Loso Hall near University Boulevard where a section of lawn is set to be transformed into a grove of trees and grasses native to the area.
