LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU) – Eastern Oregon University’s Visual Art League is holding an Abandoned and Begged-For Art Auction starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17 in the lobby of Loso Hall on campus.
The live auction begins at 8 p.m. and a silent auction will take place throughout the evening. The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will also be available.
A great way to stock up on holiday gifts, the live auction will feature work from community members, EOU faculty and alumni including Peter Christian Johnson (ceramics), Cory Peeke (collage), Tom Dimond (glass), Austin McDonald (bronze) and Kevin Boylan (glass).
Silent auction items will include abandoned work, or work left behind by former EOU students, including paintings, prints, photographs and sculptural work.
Many items will feature bids starting at $2 and all proceeds will benefit the Visual Art League and the Kat Galloway Memorial Scholarship.
Galloway was a fixture in the regional and national art community and a professor of printmaking at EOU. The Galloway Scholarship was created following her death in 2009 and is awarded annually to a promising junior EOU art major in preparation for their senior year.
The Visual Art League general fund provides opportunities for students to receive cash for materials, field trips, visiting artists and for various club functions. For more information contact Michael Sell, Visual Art League advisor and associate professor of art, at 541-962-3437 or msell@eou.edu.
