LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU)
– The “Eastern Oregon Regional High School Art Exhibition” is opening in EOU’s Nightingale Gallery in Loso Hall with a reception from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Mar. 7.

University art faculty will give out awards at 6:30 that evening. Best of Show winners will be presented with certificates and sketchbooks. Honorable mentions will also receive certificates, and the La Grande Arts Commission is sponsoring a cash award for an outstanding work by a La Grande student.

“We are pleased to once again showcase the creative talent of our region’s high school students,” said Cory Peeke, Nightingale Gallery director. “We hope to encourage continuation of their creative pursuits, as well as honor their teachers who have worked so hard to get them to where they are today.”

Artists in grades nine through 12 were invited to submit up to two works for the annual exhibition. Participants this year are from La Grande, Baker City, John Day, Joseph, Pendleton and Union.

The show continues through Mar. 18. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
