Barry Kitterman grew up in the San Joaquin Valley of central California. He attended the University of California at Berkeley from 1971-1975, receiving his A.B. in English. In the mid 70\u2019s he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Belize (Central America) where he taught in a boys reform school. After completing the MFA program at the University of Montana, he traveled to China with his wife Jill Eichhorn, where they spent two years teaching at Chinese universities, and later at a children\u2019s school in Taiwan. He was Hudson Walker Fellow at the Fine Arts Work center in Provincetown, Mass. in 89-90.\u00a0 He has taught at Indiana University East, Miami University (Ohio) and, since 1995, at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. He has published his short fiction in a number of literary magazines, including <em>Cutbank, Flyway, The Chariton Review and The Green Hills Literary Lantern<\/em>, and has served as fiction editor of <em>Zone 3 Magazine, Shankpainter <\/em>and<em> The Green Hills Literary Lantern<\/em>.
