Several\u00a0new initiatives have been implemented, enhanced, or are under\u00a0consideration by the MOSAIC Center and we\u2019re excited to\u00a0tell you more about them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our international students are actively\u00a0involved in campus life and the community, and our new 4\u00a0Diversity Initiative is making their experiences even more\u00a0rewarding. Through this dynamic and holistic approach we are\u00a0delivering quality programs and services enabling students to\u00a0assess their educational needs, connect with staff to identify\u00a0resources and ensure they realize academic success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re also involved with multiple events throughout the year.&nbsp;Some will likely be familiar to you, while others are brand new&nbsp;this year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Celebrate, Educate &amp; Appreciate Diversity Conference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maxville Mobile Museum Exhibit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intercultural Dinner &amp; Show<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Island Magic Lu\u2019au &amp; Show<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indian Arts Festival &amp; Powwow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Providing financial assistance is another important way of&nbsp;supporting our students, and that is exactly what Philip Tham,&nbsp;class of \u201974, did when he created the Margaret Tham and Leen&nbsp;Inghels International Student Scholarship fund. Beginning in&nbsp;the 2015-16 academic year, three to four international students&nbsp;will receive up to $2,000 in scholarship support thanks to&nbsp;Philip\u2019s generous gift!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you reflect on your own experience at EOU, take a moment\u00a0to consider how these powerful programs provide opportunities\u00a0for self-expression and inclusion in a very special community.\u00a0With our growing student population, may\u00a0we count on your support? During my time at EOU, I enjoyed participating in the many opportunities available, and being involved and engaged in a meaningful and impactful way enlightened my learning experience. I am very confident and successful in my career today, an outcome of the challenging opportunities staff and faculty guided me through at EOU.\u201d<\/small><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abio Ayeliya, \u201908<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><small>A 2008 EOU graduate, Abio is the founder and CEO of Sabu Help International, a non-profit organization that provides microfinance, student aid, and business training to people in Ghana, Africa. The organization enables individuals to overcome poverty, create better lives for themselves and their families, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. Abio is also currently the coordinator for Leadership and Diversity programming at Salt Lake City Community College in Utah. His position includes advising and supervision for both the North Region Vice President and the Fine Arts and Lectures Vice President boards, as well as<br>the SLCC Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Soccer Programs.
