They help people in the coming-out process as well as help others understand the importance of equality, fairness, acceptance and mutual respect for all people. This page provides resources for allies to continue to gain knowledge in becoming effective advocates, supporters and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>10 Ways to be an Ally\/Friend<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a listener.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be open-minded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be willing to talk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Educate yourself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support Your LGBT friends and family members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be inclusive and invite LGBT friends to hang out with your friends and family.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t assume that all your friends and co-workers are straight. Someone close to you could be looking for support in their coming-out process. Not making assumptions will give them the space they need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Challenge oppressive comments and behaviors. Homophobic comments and jokes are harmful.
