{"id":81,"date":"2013-10-06T21:55:44","date_gmt":"2013-10-06T21:55:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/math\/?page_id=81"},"modified":"2025-04-23T20:51:56","modified_gmt":"2025-04-23T20:51:56","slug":"solve-that-problem","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/math\/solve-that-problem\/","title":{"rendered":"Solve That Problem"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Solve That Problem is an event for Geometry, Algebra II, and Open students only.&nbsp; The following is a basic description of the contest, directions will be given the day of the event.&nbsp; Here are examples of <a title=\"STPgeo\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/0B8Nlk4S8d80ZUVVSWW1WVU5fbXc\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geometry<\/a>, <a title=\"STPalgII\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/0B8Nlk4S8d80ZMXdmN0FVVmRfUTA\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Algebra II <\/a>, and <a title=\"STPopen\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/0B8Nlk4S8d80ZdERCQlk5VW1JWHc\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open<\/a> questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The facilitator gives&nbsp; a brief description of the problem.&nbsp; The students are unable to see the problem at this time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the description is given the bidding time for completing the problem starts at 2 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students that believe they can complete the problem within that time raise their hand.&nbsp; The bidding process continues as students who believe they can complete the problem more quickly, lower the completion time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the winning bid is awarded, that student goes up to the overhead.&nbsp; The problem is then revealed to all the competitors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All competitors work on the problem.&nbsp; If the winning bidder completes the problem correctly within the bid time, they are awarded maximum points.&nbsp; All competitors that complete the problem within two minutes are awarded points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a title=\"STP\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/0B8Nlk4S8d80ZdFhRd05VbVRORFk\/edit?usp=sharing\">Here<\/a> is a short video showing the bidding process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solve That Problem is an event for Geometry, Algebra II, and Open students only.&nbsp; The following is a basic description of the contest, directions will be given the day of the event.&nbsp; Here are examples of Geometry, Algebra II , and Open questions.
