Sending Virtual Faxes
To send a virtual fax you’ll need the following:
- The access code for your virtual fax. (This simply shows what fax number it’s been sent from)
- A digital copy of the document you wan’t to send (see supported formats below).
- The phone number you want to send a fax to. You’ll need the area code and the number.
Formatting the Email Message
To send a fax, simply send an email and attach your document (see supported formats below). Address your email using the following format:
|To:||<recipitent fax #>@eou.fax.onjive.com|
|Attachment:||<document you wish to fax>|
Here’s an example for sending a fax to IT’s fax number (541-962-3718) using your departments virtual fax with the access code 123456:
To: firstname.lastname@example.org From: email@example.com Subject: 123456 Attachment: 2012_reports.xls
Send Multiple Faxes
Send multiple faxes concurrently the same way you would send an email to multiple recipients. Simply write each address in the “to” field, separated by a comma or semicolon (depending on your email client).
Fax transmission is limited to 5 faxes per minute, with a maximum of 25 faxes per hour.
Supported File Types

These other files are reported by Jive to work but if you have troubles, IT recommends you convert the file to PDF file format using Microsoft Office or Adobe Acrobat.
When a fax is received, it will be converted to a PDF and emailed to the designated email address for your department’s virtual fax.
