Once \nyou are admitted, EOU will issue an I-20, which is required as part of \nthe F-1 visa application process. For information on applying for an F-1\n visa, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/studyinthestates.dhs.gov\/students\">Homeland Security Study in the States<\/a>&nbsp;page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arrange for Housing<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete your housing application on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/reslife\/\">Residence Life<\/a>&nbsp;page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All undergraduate international students in their first year of study in the United States are&nbsp;<strong>required<\/strong>&nbsp;to live on campus their first year at EOU. &nbsp;Exceptions to this requirement must be requested by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/reslife\/eou-live-in-requirement\/\">petition<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International students are permitted to move into the residence halls Friday or Saturday prior to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/intprog\/orientation\/\">International Student Orientation<\/a>. &nbsp;Students will be charged a nightly rate for each night prior to the official move-in day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submit Required Forms<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access your <a href=\"https:\/\/experience.elluciancloud.com\/eou\">Mountie Pass<\/a>.&nbsp; See the <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.eou.edu\/faq\/what-is-mountie-pass\">Mountie Pass FAQ<\/a> for more info.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All EOU students are required to have two doses of measles vaccine (which is part of the MMR vaccine). &nbsp;Scan and submit the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/health\/immunizations\/\">&nbsp;EOU MMR Verification<\/a> form to shc@eou.edu prior to arrival.&nbsp; Be sure to attach the vaccine record with dates and clinic name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scan and submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/health\/files\/2012\/04\/Health_History_2-14.pdf\">Health History form<\/a>&nbsp;to shc@eou.edu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All new students are asked to complete&nbsp;the New Revolving Credit \n&amp; Financial Responsibility Agreement.&nbsp; Sign in to Webster, click \nStudent Services &amp; Financial Aid, then Student Account, followed by \nNew Revolving Credit &amp; Financial Responsibility Agreements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manage Required EOU Health Insurance<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>International students enrolled at&nbsp;EOU are&nbsp;<strong>required<\/strong>&nbsp;to\n purchase the International Student Health Insurance (Fall, Winter, \nSpring\/Summer). &nbsp; Students are automatically enrolled in and billed for \nthe EOU Student Health Insurance. &nbsp;Health insurance is a complicated \ntopic that you will learn more about during International Student \nOrientation. &nbsp;Please get started by completing the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read the information provided on the Student Affairs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/student-affairs\/health-insurance\/\">Student Health Insurance<\/a>&nbsp;page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you would like to submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallagherstudent.com\/students\/user-login.php?idField=1171\">waiver<\/a>, please pay extra attention to the information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note the insurance coverage start dates and end dates. &nbsp;If \nyou plan to arrive in the United States before insurance coverage \nbegins, you may want to purchase additional&nbsp;coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plan for MANDATORY International Student Orientation<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/intprog\/orientation\/\">International Student Orientation<\/a>&nbsp;page to learn all you need to know about orientation,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/wow\/\">Week of Welcome<\/a>,&nbsp;and\n your travel dates so you can plan your trip accordingly. In the spring,\n prior to arrival, you will receive emails from EOU with instructions on\n the items you need to take care of prior to arrival in La Grande.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/mc\/kick-start-program\/\">Kickstart<\/a>&nbsp;is\n a pre-orientation program designed to help smooth the transition of \ninternational and Pacific Island students to college culture in the \nUnited States. This program provides non-native speakers time to \npractice their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills \nprior to the start of the academic year; familiarize themselves with the\n region; and build the kinds of relationships with fellow students, \nfaculty, staff, and community members critical to student success and \nretention. This program is tied to EOU\u2019s Invitation to Rural Oregon \ncourse (HUM 111).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pack Your Bags and Let\u2019s Go!<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studyinthestates.dhs.gov\/students\">Study in the States<\/a>&nbsp;offers\n free government resources that explain the rules and regulations \ngoverning the international student process in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Grande is in Northeastern Oregon.&nbsp; It is located approximately 4 \nhours from Portland, Oregon, 5 hours from Seattle, Washington, and 3 \nhours from Boise, Idaho.&nbsp; Many students fly into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flypdx.com\/\">Portland<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iflyboise.com\/\">Boise<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portseattle.org\/sea-tac\">Seattle<\/a>, and then take another plane to the regional airport in Pendleton, Oregon, which is serviced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boutiqueair.com\/\">Boutique Air<\/a>. Pendleton is approximately 1 hour from La Grande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IMPORTANT UPDATE! Greyhound Bus has recently announced the discontinuation of its bus services between Portland, OR and Boise, ID effective January 16, 2025.
