UNI 101: University Studies

UNI 101 is an extended orientation course in which students will be supported through their academic transition to college. Many first year students find college-level expectations for studying, homework, and academic engagement challenging or overwhelming, even if they were high-achieving students in high school. In this class students will learn about academic culture and vocabulary, and how to be contributing members of the scholarly community. UNI instructors are faculty members who teach a variety of subjects who have committed to supporting first-year students in this transition to higher education. This class may be for you if you have anxiety about starting college, if you are the first in your family to attend college, or if you are underprepared for the academic rigor expected at this level.

Catalog Description:  UNI 101 is part of Eastern Oregon University’s First Year Experience program, designed to guide students to the resources of EOU and the culture of higher education. UNI 101 assists students in the development of intellectual, personal, and social skills, time management, study strategies, financial literacy, and information literacy. Students will also have opportunities to learn from faculty members in specific fields.  UNI 101 is strongly recommended for all on-campus first year students who enter EOU with less than 30 college credit hours.
