August 21, 2020 – Resumption Digest

Dear EOU Community,

I encourage you to become familiar with our new social norms for fall term, as outlined in this short video: youtube.com/watch?v=PHd_ROzv888&t=33s. We are all working together to prevent the spread of disease by following these safe behaviors in the workplace:

  1. Daily self-evaluation

Before you come to campus each day, check your temperature. If you have a fever or any other symptoms, stay home.

  1. Mask-up, Mounties!

Face coverings are required inside all EOU buildings and whenever you cannot maintain six feet of distance outdoors. Keep your nose and mouth covered at all times.

  1. Physical distance, social solidarity

Keep six feet of distance between yourself and others at all times. Check in with your mental and emotional health, and reach out to someone if you’re feeling isolated or down.

These new norms will help us maintain a healthy environment on campus this fall. You can also find guidelines for public health at govstatus.egov.com/OR-OHA-COVID-19.

As we approach fall term, it’s important that every member of our university community feels supported and comfortable in the decision to stay home if they are unwell. Whether you have a cough, a slight fever, a sore throat or other symptoms (even minor ones), err on the side of caution. Contact your supervisor. Sick leave and other resources are available to protect the health and safety of everyone at EOU. Taking care of yourself is one way to take care of others.

The Resumption Planning team continues to seek input from students, faculty and staff. You’re welcome to submit feedback and questions via the online form.

Sincerely,

Sarah Witte, Provost

Resumption Planning Coordinator
