May 22, 2020 – EOU Reopening Plans Update

Dear EOU Community,

As we approach the close of the spring academic term, we want to share ongoing updates with you regarding EOU’s campus reopening plans. Oregon’s public universities are working with state leaders and have developed a framework with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for review by the Oregon Health Authority.

To develop the operational details within this framework, teams from functional areas (e.g. Academic Affairs) are meeting to create resumption plans for the university. These teams include employees and students to build out the various components of the plan. More specifics on these plans will be available over the next few weeks, and updates will be shared with the university community.

As noted in our message last week, Union County, along with many counties throughout Oregon, have begun a Phase I Reopening, effective May 15. Safety guidelines, including physical distancing and sector-specific regulations, remain in place.

EOU will continue to hold classes and work through remote access for the remainder of spring term, per Executive Orders 20-17 and 20-09. All main campus facilities and buildings will remain closed to the public during this time, including EOU’s Fitness Center in Quinn Coliseum.

We are looking forward to the gradual reopening of our main campus in preparation for fall term and a new academic year. We continue our commitment to the health and well-being of our students and the continuation of their academic progress. We appreciate everyone’s effort and dedication to serving students and living out our mission.

Sincerely,

EOU Executive Leadership Team
