Spring term classes update

Hello EOU Students –

We hope you have received our notices that Eastern Oregon University is adapting all campus-based classes to remote access for the full 2020 spring term. We know this is going to be a change for many students, while many of our students already participate in some online courses. Please know that we understand that this will take some adjustment, but that we are fully prepared to help you in this transition and throughout the spring term. We are confident that our faculty and staff have the expertise to deliver the highest quality education through distance learning to deliver and to ensure your access to excellence in education remains a top priority.

Please see below for a few key items EOU students need to know in preparation for the term:

Spring Term classes:

  • Nearly all of EOU’s Spring Term classes are set to be accessed through the Canvas Learning Management System (Canvas), which is available to you through your my.eou portal
  • If there is a change in your class or it is being cancelled, you will be notified by us. Your advisor or a member of EOU’s staff will contact you directly. There is no need to change your classes. If you do not receive a notice of cancellation, your class will take place as scheduled.
  • By “remote access,” we mean an on-campus class that has been temporarily converted to the Canvas shell so you can attend class from wherever you are — at home, on campus or elsewhere.
  • If you have questions regarding Spring Term class schedules, please contact the Registrar’s Office and they will be happy to assist. You can reach them at 541-962-3607 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (yes, that includes over spring break!).

Financial Aid:

  • Your tuition rate will not change.
  • Scholarships and fee remissions will all stay in place.
  • If you find yourself in a difficult financial position that may make it hard for you to continue your education at EOU, please contact the Financial Aid Office immediately at 541-962-3550 (also over spring break!).

We know for some of you this is a big change and we want you to know that EOU is here to support you and help with any issue you may have. Our faculty have great experience in teaching classes remotely and the entire university is committed to your success as a student.

Please watch your email for more messages from EOU and check eou.edu/coronavirus for updates.

Sincerely,

Sarah Witte
