Career and Technical Education<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In Oregon, CTE teaching licenses are most often awarded based on completion of individualized Professional Development Plans. These plans are created and submitted to the Oregon Department of Education by a CTE Regional Coordinator, in consultation with school\/district administration, after someone has been hired to teach in an approved CTE Program of Study. EOU offers all the courses CTE teachers may need to take for their Professional Development Plans<\/strong>; we encourage CTE teachers to review their plans before enrolling to ensure they select the correct courses. Refer to the TSPC Webpage<\/a> if you have any questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EOU’s CTE courses are priced at our credit overlay rate of $100\/credit for those taking the course for 400-level (undergraduate) credit<\/strong>, and $200\/credit for\u00a0500-level (graduate) credit<\/strong>. The 500-level courses are only available to those who already have a bachelor’s degree. Both versions of our courses will meet Oregon’s CTE licensure requirements. We encourage those with a bachelor’s degree to enroll in the 500-level versions since the credits can then count towards movement on district pay scales and also potentially be applied towards the Master of Science in Education with concentration in CTE (see more information below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW! Master of Science in Education with Concentration in Career and Technical Education<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EOU offers a pathway for those completing our CTE coursework for graduate credit (500-level)<\/strong> to apply some or all of these courses towards our Master of Science in Education, with the option of a concentration in CTE. Those interested in this option would need to apply and be admitted to the Master of Science in Education program, and complete a sequence of core courses in addition to their CTE coursework. Depending on the number of CTE courses taken, some additional electives may also be required. CTE 420\/520 Introduction to Teaching and CTE in Oregon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This course is designed to support teachers who are pursuing Career and Technical Education (CTE) licensure in Oregon and are either new to the teaching profession or existing teachers adding an endorsement to teach in a career and technical education program of study. Through course readings, videos and reflective projects, students will receive a practical introduction to the professional roles and responsibilities of educators as well as an overview of the state and federal funding and program characteristics that support CTE in Oregon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This course is designed to focus on curricular theory and planning through units and daily lessons that are tied to current industry standards in your area of Career and Technical Education (CTE). This course is designed for Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers to increase their knowledge and competence in the area of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practices. This course will focus on developing practices in classrooms that will encourage success for all students, encouraging teachers to take into account the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of their students and fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
