These plans are created and submitted to the Oregon Department of Education by a CTE Regional Coordinator, in consultation with school/district administration, after someone has been hired to teach in an approved CTE Program of Study. EOU offers all the courses CTE teachers may need to take for their Professional Development Plans; we encourage CTE teachers to review their plans before enrolling to ensure they select the correct courses. Refer to the TSPC Webpage if you have any questions.

EOU’s CTE courses are priced at our credit overlay rate of $100/credit for those taking the course for 400-level (undergraduate) credit, and $200/credit for 500-level (graduate) credit. The 500-level courses are only available to those who already have a bachelor’s degree. Both versions of our courses will meet Oregon’s CTE licensure requirements. We encourage those with a bachelor’s degree to enroll in the 500-level versions since the credits can then count towards movement on district pay scales and also potentially be applied towards the Master of Science in Education with concentration in CTE (see more information below).

Use the instructions below to enroll as a non-degree seeking student and register for courses based on our schedule of CTE offerings.

Please contact Tara Gekas by phone or email if you have questions about the application/enrollment process for CTE courses. 541-962-3338 or tgekas@eou.edu.

Please contact the CTE Program Coordinator, Dr. Karie Smucker, with questions about specific coursework requirements for your Professional Development Plan or more general questions about EOU’s CTE offerings. ksmucker@eou.edu

NEW! Master of Science in Education with Concentration in Career and Technical Education

EOU offers a pathway for those completing our CTE coursework for graduate credit (500-level) to apply some or all of these courses towards our Master of Science in Education, with the option of a concentration in CTE. Those interested in this option would need to apply and be admitted to the Master of Science in Education program, and complete a sequence of core courses in addition to their CTE coursework. Depending on the number of CTE courses taken, some additional electives may also be required. For more information on this option, please reach out to the Master of Science in Education Program Coordinator, Dr. Amanda Villagomez (avillago@eou.edu), or check out EOU’s MS in Education website for more details.

Course Descriptions and Syllabi

Registration Instructions

Available Classes by term

2026-2027 CTE Course Offerings

Course Title

Summer 26
Course Number

Fall 26
Course Number

Winter 27
Course Number

Spring 27
Course Number

Introduction to CTE in Oregon
CTE 420/520

CTE 420 –
