Rae Ette Newman assumed the Interim Dean of the College of Education on July 1, 2022. Rae Ette joined EOU as faculty in the College of Education on July 1, 2013. She holds a doctorate in Special Education with an emphasis in early childhood education, and her M.Ed. with an emphasis in autism and cognitive disabilities, from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a dual major in education: PreK-grade 3 (birth- age 11) and special education early childhood (birth-age 8).  Until she was appointed Interim Dean, she served as Chair of the College of Education since 2017 and coordinated the Early Childhood Education and Master of Arts in Teaching programs.   Throughout her career, she has been engaged in all aspects of quality programming, including accreditation, assessment, program design, and redesign.  She has participated in and led accreditation reviews at the state and national levels.  Recent accomplishments include successfully leading the College of Education through the national accreditation process and the development of the Instruction Assistant pathway to licensure.
