Jan’s entire career has been in education, first as a classroom teacher in a variety of grades and as a teacher educator in the CUESTE program at EOU’s branch campus in Ontario. She especially enjoys spending time in the schools and seeing the culmination of the pre-service teachers’ learning as a university supervisor for student teachers. Jan enjoys collaborating with her colleagues on research. Her research focuses on preservice teaching, teacher education and university-k12 partnerships in culturally linguistic rural areas. She has been the Chair of the Constructivist Research, Theory and Practice SIG at AERA for several years. Jan is a reviewer for Teacher Education Quarterly , AERA and HICE. She enjoys traveling, staying warm, living and immersing herself in other languages and cultures and creating art.
