Hyun Uk (a two-word first name) Kim received her doctorate in Special Education from the University of California, Los Angeles. As a faculty member at various institutions (e.g., Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, Barry University in Miami Shores, FL, and Simmons University in Boston, MA), she has strived to prepare well-rounded educators, who are eager to create welcoming classrooms for all. Prior to transitioning to higher education, she taught at an early intervention program and worked as a psychometrist at the UCLA’s Autism Clinic with Dr. BJ Freeman. Her research interests include cross-cultural understanding of dis/ability, bilingual children with dis/ability labels, critical examination of inclusion practices and policy factors for children with dis/ability labels.
