Liz Becker is a Senior Instructor in the College of Education, specializing in Social Studies Methods. She also co-facilitates EOU’s Summer Institute, a technology focused professional development experience for faculty. Before joining the College of Education, Liz was the Lead CORE Facilitator in EOU’s Student Services. CORE is a First Year Experience program that helps freshmen build their academic skills and make the transition to the college environment. Liz worked as a high school teacher in the state of Wyoming. She developed and taught a large variety of courses, including U.S. History, AP U.S. History, World History, Asian Studies, African Studies, Ancient Civilizations, a study skills program, and an ACT prep program. For two years, Liz served as a full time Instructional Coach, helping individual and groups of educators improve their teaching practice in all content areas in the school where she was employed. She served as a tutor for 6 years in multiple disciplines, including reading, writing, math, study skills, and various exam prep programs. In 2009, Liz became a National Board Certified Teacher, an optional and rigorous performance based certification for K-12 educators.
