Ray Brown Prior to coming to EOU in 2004, Ray taught high school history and English for thirty years, the majority of the time in Southern California. He also was an adjunct history professor at various universities in California, including the Cal State system. He also worked as a consultant for California’s Department of Education, specializing in social studies content and improving test scores. Ray retired from EOU in 2016.

Professor Sorensen came to EOU in 1990 and retired in 2014. During her twenty-four years at the university, she taught accounting. Kim says about her time at EOU, “I loved teaching at Eastern. The students were an absolute pleasure to work with. It was an honor being part of such a dedicated faculty and staff that puts students first.”

Dr. Atkinson taught at EOU from 1998-2013. He was a part of the development and implementation teams that worked to bring a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and MBA degree programs to EOU. His favorite part of being a professor was helping students to reach their educational goals and to apply the knowledge they gained during their time at EOU.

Dr. Jaeger joined EOU in 1988 as an associate professor of Science Education with equal responsibilities in Arts and Sciences, the School of Administrative Studies, and the School of Education. He served as the Chair of the School of Education and the Dean of the Colleges of Education and College of Business. He also served as an interim provost. Dr. Jaeger retired in 2013.

Professor Vermeer served at EOU from 1980-2012. He says his best memories from EOU, “are of my students, some of whom were the sons and daughters of my earliest students.”

Dr. Lauritzen came to EOU in 1988 and taught until July 2013. She was instrumental in establishing the CUESTE program at our onsite locations throughout Oregon. About her time at EOU, she says, “The joy of being a professor at EOU is preparing teachers and then being able to work with them throughout their careers in the schools of eastern Oregon. I’ve enjoyed the professional collaboration with my colleagues at EOU, across the state and internationally.”

Dr. Davenport first joined EOU in 1993 as a teacher of 7-8-9 year old students at Ackerman Laboratory School. She served as a classroom teacher for two years and as a co-director for one year. When the school closed, she taught in the College of Education during the grace year she was given to find another position. After a year in Normal, IL at Illinois State University, she was invited back to EOU, and served as a professor of education in the CUESTE Program and the MTE Program from 1999 until her retirement in 2011. For the last five years at EOU, she was the Coordinator of the Early Childhood Program.
