The ReadOregon program is the collaborative effort of three Oregon universities (Eastern Oregon University, Portland State University, and Southern Oregon University). The purpose of the program is to increase the availability of literacy courses to teachers in Oregon. Because ReadOregon accepts classes from three universities, the program offers a greater variety of courses and more schedule flexibility than a program offered by a single university. ReadOregon is an entirely online program. You can complete the program at your own speed; there are courses being offered every term.
The 24-quarter credit ReadOregon program, along with a passing score on the current state-approved content exam, will lead to a reading endorsement on the teaching license. EOU does not support alternative assessment in place of the content exam for licensure.
You will need to submit an application to ReadOregon if you have not done so already. If you are new to the program, we invite you to choose EOU as your home institution.
Eastern Oregon University also offers a full graduate online reading endorsement program. See the EOU Reading page for further information.
Once you have decided to take a course from EOU, please be certain that you familiarize yourself with EOU processes and technology use. For advising about ReadOregon, or related to a Reading Endorsement, please contact Kristin Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 541.962.3529.
