Dr. Steve Clements hails from Rhode Island. From 1978 to 1980 he attended the University of Idaho, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Forest Resource Management. In 1982 he entered graduate school at Virginia Tech where he received his MS (1984) and PhD (1987), both degrees in Forestry Economics. After grad school, he held a faculty position at the University of New Brunswick for three years. He left New Brunswick for La Grande, Oregon in 1990 and for a couple of years he managed a computer lab providing software and hardware for children with disabilities. In the 1993 he took a position with the Oregon State University Extension Service, and worked as a forestry educator. While working for OSU, he ran for and won a position on the La Grande City Council; he held the position for over 12 years. In late 1998, he took a position as a computer tech at Eastern Oregon University and in 2008 he was asked to teach courses in the College of Business. In 2012 he was asked to serve as the Associate Dean of the College, the position he currently holds.
