All courses are offered online, in a blend of synchronous, asynchronous, and online weekend residency courses. Students finish the Masters degree with a minimum of 700 hours of hands-on experience counseling in community settings, positioning them for success as future clinical mental health counselors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:76%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column well is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Degree Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity blue\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Students must complete 90 quarter credits during their degree program, including 13 core counseling courses, 2 CMHC specific courses, 2 electives, and a minimum of 3 clinical experience courses: Practicum, Internship, and Advanced Internship. Students must be available to attend synchronous courses throughout the program, beginning in the second term of enrollment. A Master degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling prepares students to become a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Mental Health Counselor in your state. Clinical Mental Health Counselors are trained to diagnose and treat mental struggles, navigate relational issues, advocate for individuals and communities, respect diversity, and offer prevention programs and education on mental wellness. Many CMHCs work in agencies, hospitals, private practices, schools, and businesses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-white-color has-eastern-navy-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-white-color has-text-color\">CMHC Program Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Eastern Oregon University is to prepare ethical and exemplary future clinical mental health counselors, who work from a trauma-informed lens and treat clients through holistic and systems-informed perspectives. EOU\u2019s CMHC program is aligned with best practices in counselor education and the 2024 Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP) standards. We educate students to be advocates, invest in social justice, and collaborate with communities and individuals to address societal and personal challenges.
