Native American Studies
EOU Native American Studies
The Native American Studies Minor integrates a wide variety of academic areas, including anthropology, history, political science, economics, business and law. The overall objective of the program is to increase the diversity in terms of curricular offerings, and means of completing coursework (Students can complete their minors both on and off campus). The minor is designed to foster an in-depth understanding of Native American peoples, their general and specific belief systems, the complex history and relationship with the government and broader society. Students will become familiar with Native Peoples’ contemporary tribal organization, the interplay with federal, state and local government activities, and the U.S. Government’s federal trust responsibility toward treaty rights. The tribes hire and work with a wide variety of professionals, which includes applied fields of study in anthropology, education, business, natural resources, and law, among others.
