Saturday Science

Come and join a fun-filled day of hands-on activities around science and chemistry led by Eastern Oregon University and Treasure Valley Community College chemistry faculty and students.

Girls in Science

Do you love science, math, and computer science? If so, this is the event for you! NEOAHEC and Eastern Oregon University’s Girls in Science program provides a full day of exploration into chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer technology, and more as try your hand at solving an interactive mystery.

Grade Range: 6th-8th

MedQuest health career exploration camp gives students an exclusive look at the world of healthcare during a week-long camp. Students get to try out college dorm life, shadow health professionals, sit in on fascinating presentations and medical panels, and much more.

EOU Student Writers’ Workshop

The EOU English/Writing program hosts the Student Writers’ workshop for young writers in grades 3-12 on the second Saturday of every March on the EOU campus in La Grande.

Grade Range: 3rd-12th

EOU Summer Institute

The EOU Summer Institute is a week-long program designed for High school students to come to Eastern and test their readiness for the challenges of higher ed. Students earn two(2) general education credits while studying and staying in the residence halls at EOU. Come learn the Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, familiarize yourself with EOU campus and resources, and explore the Grande Ronde Valley through outdoor activities!

Grade Range: 9th-12th

EOU Regional Mathematics Competition

The state of Oregon holds an annual High School Mathematics Skills Competition. Competitors in the State competition must first place as a top finisher of one of the many regional qualifying competitions held throughout Oregon. Eastern Oregon University holds one of these annual regional competition every year on the third Tuesday of Spring Term.

Grade Range: 8th-12th

Eastern Promise

When students have the opportunity to participate in college-level courses and earn credits or certificates while still in high school, it means real financial savings for families today. Eastern Promise is a collaboration between Blue Mountain Community College, Eastern Oregon University, Treasure Valley Community College, the InterMountain Education Service District and many school districts in Eastern Oregon. Increasing the number of students who are prepared to attend college directly from high school is the goal of Eastern Promise.

FIRST® LEGO® League is a worldwide competitive brick-based robotics tournament for elementary students from 4th to 8th grade. Teams comprised of 3-10 members design and assemble robots to complete a given set of tasks. The EOU Computer Science program hosts the qualifying rounds for local schools in the winter of every year.

Grade Range: 4th-8th

Cottonwood Crossing

Cottonwood Crossing Summer Institute (CCSI) is a week-long residential field studies program for high school students currently in grades 9-12. Participants choose from five course options where they learn about locally significant cultural or natural resources. Projects are led by EOU faculty, EOU Capstone students, and other regional professionals.
