An opening reception is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 13 in the gallery in Loso Hall. The acrylic, screen print, oil and paint stick on panel measures 18\u2033x30.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art.boisestate.edu\/welcome\/faculty-and-staff\/faculty-directory\/kirsten-m-furlong\/\">Kirsten Furlong<\/a>, director of the Visual Arts Center at Boise State University, is the juror this year.\u00a0In addition to selecting works to include in the exhibit, she will choose several to be recognized with cash awards.<\/p>\n<p>Furlong\u2019s\u00a0recent solo exhibitions include \u201cRepeat and Shift\u201d\u00a0at Enso Art Space in Boise and \u201cStanding Still and Moving Through the Wilderness\u201d\u00a0at Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, Ariz. She was also recently an artist-in-residence at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Northern Michigan and her work was included in the November exhibition, \u201cPaper West,\u201d\u00a0at Gittins Gallery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She earned her bachelor of fine arts from the University of Nebraska in Omaha and her master of fine arts from Boise State University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Furlong will\u00a0give a\u00a0talk on her studio practice Tuesday, May 10 at 6 p.m. in Huber Auditorium in Badgley Hall. The presentation is free and open to the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two additional scholarships will also be presented. The sixth annual Kathelene Galloway Memorial Scholarship is a $500 award given\u00a0to a sophomore or junior level art major who exhibits exemplary technical and conceptual skill. It is made in memory of Galloway, a professor of printmaking and drawing at EOU for over a decade, who passed away in December 2009. The\u00a0highly dedicated and much loved artist, teacher and colleague was a passionate advocate for her students, art, artists and EOU and\u00a0lived to share knowledge and the wonder that comes with discovery.<\/p>\n<p>The seventh annual Joseph Dickerson Memorial Award is made in memory of Joe Dickerson, an EOU freshman who was killed in a 2009 automobile accident. He was a model student whose creative energy and enthusiasm for learning was infectious. Following their loss, Joe\u2019s parents Doug and Kyla Dickerson made a generous contribution to the EOU art program, which chose to use the funds to endow an award in his name to be presented each year to a student who the faculty feels best exemplifies Joe\u2019s dedication, curiosity and creative spirit.<\/p>\n<p>See the\u00a0\u201cAll-Campus Juried Student Exhibition\u201d exhibition at EOU through June 9. Gallery hours are 12 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
