{"id":765,"date":"2012-02-17T00:08:16","date_gmt":"2012-02-17T00:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/staging-advising\/?page_id=765"},"modified":"2022-04-20T16:21:12","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T12:21:12","slug":"liberal-studies-capstone","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/liberal-studies-capstone\/","title":{"rendered":"Liberal Studies Capstone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Capstone process for liberal studies students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Two\/three terms before registering for LS 401, LS 402, and LS 403<br>Using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/capstone\/CapstoneFaculty.htm\">LIBERAL STUDIES CAPSTONE CONTACTS<\/a> follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>E-mail faculty member listed by your discipline to arrange for a Faculty Capstone Adviser.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/capstone\/CapstoneFaculty.htm\">( Liberal Studies Contacts)<\/a><\/li><li>Share your vision of your capstone project and get permission to proceed with capstone proposal.<\/li><li>Prepare your final capstone proposal (2-3 typewritten pages, double spaced) including:<ul><li>Topic statement giving focus of your capstone.<\/li><li>Why you selected this topic.<\/li><li>Resources you will use in paper\/project. When setting up the bibliography, follow a set documentation style(i.e. MLA, APA).Ask your Faculty Capstone Adviser which style is favored in the discipline in which you are writing.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Check document for depth of topic, clarity, spelling, and discipline terminology.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Four to six weeks before the term in which you will register for your capstone:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Off campus students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u00a0Send the following to your Academic Adviser:<ul><li>Final approved capstone proposal<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/documents\/LSOff-campusLiberalStudiesFormJanuary2012.doc\">Liberal Studies Off Campus Capstone Proposal<\/a> form<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/documents\/COURSEBYARRANGEMENT.pdf\">\u00a0Course by Arrangement<\/a>\u00a0form<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Your Academic Adviser will attach your Admit to Program form, sign the proposal form, and send paperwork to Academic and Career Advising who will obtain the \u00a0respective College Dean\u2019s signature and turn the registration into the Registrar<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>On campus students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Obtain the signature of your Academic Adviser on your On Campus Capstone Proposal form<\/li><li>Take the following to your respective College Dean for his\/her signature:<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/documents\/LiberalStudiesOnCampusCapstoneProposal-January2012.doc\">Liberal Studies On Campus Capstone\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/documents\/LiberalStudiesOnCampusCapstoneProposal8-10-10.doc\">Proposal<\/a>\u00a0form<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eou.edu\/advising\/documents\/COURSEBYARRANGEMENT.pdf\">Course by Arrangement<\/a>\u00a0form<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Turn in your Course by Arrangement to the Registrar when registration begins for the term in which you wish to enroll. Keep your Capstone Proposal form for your records<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\"><em>If your major&#8217;s capstone entails a research paper, be sure to obtain style and research information from the Teaching Faculty Capstone Advisers.
