Program Requirements:

  • 45 graded credit hours are required for the Master of Science degree. 15 of these will be in a focus area chosen by the student.
  • A minimum grade of “C-” and a cumulative GPA of 2.00 (or better) is required in all courses counting toward the degree.
  • A maximum of 15 transfer credits can be applied to EOU’s MS degree.

Candidates must clear the TSPC fingerprinting, background check, and PA1, and have a passing score on the ORELA Civil Rights Exam or a current valid teaching license in the state of Oregon. Approvals must be made one term prior to registration.
The additional 1 credit from ED 547 will be applied toward the electives area

ELECTIVE COURSES: 11 credits — Students completing a focus area in ESOL need to complete an additional 10 elective credits in a second Focus Area or a set of advisor approved elective courses

4. SPECIAL EDUCATION FOCUS AREA:

Students completing a focus area in Special Education will complete the Special Education Endorsement. https://www.eou.edu/academics/special-education-endorsement/

Students who have completed the Special Education program may apply those credits from the completed endorsement program to satisfy the Focus Area and Elective areas required for the Master of Science (MS) degree. The courses listed HERE are the Special Educator K-12 Endorsement.
