Cruisin' to Carson
A week before Marquis Jones left to install his latest performance piece at the encampment at the base of Teoihuacan, Mexico, he mounted his motorcycle parked on the Santa Monica pier. Just finishing a month-long stint with his "Man versus god" fire-eating performances, he was on his way to check out some rusted Oldsmobile bumpers he needed for his work in Mexico. He was uncertain as to their suitability for the tropical climate in that region of Mexico. His route has been documented here as an example of Marquis's directional integrity paralleling this artist's vision.
