Required Material: Allen, Rick. "The Democratic Aims of Service Learning." Educational Leadership 60.6 (March 2003). 51-55. Available in Pierce Library (journal call number L11.E443) or in full-text electronic format through EBSCOhost Academic Search Elite.

To access via EBSCOhost:

  1. Go to Pierce Library home page: http://pierce.eou.edu/
  2. Click on By database name
  3. Click on EBSCOhost Web
  4. Click on Continue
  5. Enter "service learning" (without quotes) in the first dialogue box and "Allen" in the second, selecting AU Author instead of Default Fields
  6. Click Search
  7. The Allen article should appear with a links to HTML and PDF versions

Prewriting for first formal assignment
Week 2: 4/5M Read assigned text before class
Submit first formal assignment and Cornerstone form
Week 5 Attend individual conference with instructor--e-mail to set up a meeting
Submit second formal assignment
Week 9: 5/24M Discussion of placement
Week 10: 5/31M Submit third formal assignment
Make sure I have received your partner's evaluation of your work
Discussion of placements
End-of-term evaluations
6/7M Final Pick up work in my office LH 146 between 3 and 5 PM
